Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about creating and managing a memorial on RIPLanka.info

Getting Started
What is RIPLanka.info?
RIPLanka.info is an online memorial platform that allows you to create lasting digital tombstones for loved ones who have passed away — complete with photos, tributes, and a space for family and friends to leave offerings and condolences from anywhere in the world.
Is it free to create a memorial?
Yes, creating a basic memorial is completely free. Optional paid features include additional photo album storage, bouquet offerings, and oil lamp offerings for longer durations.
Can I create memorials in Sinhala or Tamil?
Yes. RIPLanka.info supports Sinhala, Tamil, and English across memorial details, blog articles, and where applicable, notices and tributes.
Privacy & Access
Who can see a memorial I create?
You control the privacy of each memorial. You can make it public so anyone with the link can view it, or restrict it with an access key so it's only visible to people you share that link with.
Can I edit a memorial after publishing it?
Yes. Memorial owners can edit details and the visual design of their memorial at any time by signing in and using the edit options available on the memorial page.
How do I delete a memorial?
You can delete a memorial from your account dashboard. Please note that deleting a memorial permanently removes its photos, tributes, offerings, and all associated data — this cannot be undone.
Offerings & Condolences
What are offerings?
Offerings are symbolic gestures of love and remembrance — flowers, candles, oil lamps, and bouquets — that visitors can place on a memorial. Some offerings (like flowers) are free for a limited time, while others are paid for longer durations such as 3 months or 1 year.
How do I send a condolence card?
On any memorial page, click "Send Condolence", choose a card design, personalise it with your message and name using the built-in editor, and submit. You'll need to be signed in to publish a condolence card.
What happens when an offering expires?
Once an offering's duration ends, it moves to the memorial's "Past Offerings" section, where it remains visible as a record of remembrance but is shown in a muted style.
Notices & Verification
What is a Tombstone Notice?
Notices allow memorial owners to share three types of announcements: Appreciation messages (thank you notes), Almsgiving event announcements (with date, location map, and contact details), and Remembrance notices marking milestones such as a 1-month or 1-year anniversary.
How do I verify a memorial with a death certificate?
Memorial owners can upload a death certificate for review through the verification option on their memorial page. Once our team approves it, the memorial displays a verified badge.
